MediaCom has announced the impending departure of its Melbourne general manager, Brett Elliott, with his next move yet to be revealed.

Elliott has been a long-standing member of the media agency for over 18 years, having been appointed to several senior roles within MediaCom during his tenure – most recently as general manager of Melbourne in September 2015.

MediaCom’s CEO for Australia and New Zealand, Sean Seamer, said Elliott has played a pivotal role in the evolution and success of the agency since joining in 1999.

“We will miss Brett, but his decision comes with our full support and respect,” Seamer said.

“He’s always been a pillar of our operation, and over the last 12 months has been key to recruiting great talent in Melbourne, strengthening our business to leave strong foundations for future momentum.

“On behalf of MediaCom Australia, I’d like to thank Brett whole-heartedly for his commitment, leadership and dedication to MediaCom, and to also wish Brett the very best for the future. I have no doubt that he will go on to do great things in his next endeavour.”

Commenting on his departure, Elliott said: “It’s been an honour to lead and work at an agency where I have spent almost half of my life in a variety of roles.

“Working at MediaCom for so long, I have experienced numerous highs and lows, and I’m really proud of the resilience the agency in Melbourne has shown, particularly over the last few years.

“I feel like I have made every contribution I can and that MediaCom has gained momentum after key client wins and retentions, creating award-winning work and a strong and talented team in place. It is the right time for me to depart and to let the team continue to build on our recent success.”

Seamer will assume leadership of MediaCom’s Melbourne division with the full support of the national leadership team – specifically Gemma Hunter (global executive creative director and head of MBA Australia) and Nicole Boyd (chief client officer) – until Elliott’s replacement is found.

Elliott’s departure date is yet to be confirmed, MediaCom said he will complete a full handover of his responsibilities during his remaining time at the agency to ensure a smooth transition.
