MediaCom CEO Sean Seamer To Replace James Warburton At Supercars

Supercars has announced it has appointed MediaCom CEO Sean Seamer to replace James Warburton as the head of the sport with a clear remit to continue the domestic and international success of the business.

Seamer was selected as the Supercars CEO from a high-calibre list of high-profile business and sporting leaders who expressed interest in the role.

Warburton announced his departure from Supercars last month to join APN Outdoor as CEO.

Seamer originally started with MediaCom back in 2003 and took on the CEO role here in Australia two years ago.

The business is in extremely good health, currently leading the new business rankings here in Australia after making a strong investment in technology and talent at senior levels in all markets.

Commenting on his departure, Seamer said: “I’m very thankful for all the opportunities that MediaCom has provided me over all these years. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel the world with them and have built life-long friendships as a result.

“The business has a strong sense of purpose and a fantastic culture to continue to build on. We have done an amazing job over the past two years and have strength and depth of talent in all offices which I’m sure will continue to grow.”

Mark Lollback, CEO of GroupM, said: “MediaCom is in the strongest position it has been in for five years.

“The work that the leadership team has put in over the past 24 months is outstanding, and while we are naturally disappointed to see Sean leave to pursue his passion, the fundamentals of the business are strong and so is the leadership team that has been built.

“The platform is there for many more years of success and I look forward to working with MediaCom to unlock that success. I would also like to thank Sean for his leadership and contribution to rebuilding Mediacom in Australia, and wish him all the very best in his new role.”

Seamer will commence the role as CEO next year at a date to be confirmed, and a successor for MediaCom will be announced shortly.
