MEC Promotes From Within For National Investment Head Role

MEC has promoted Claire Butterworth, currently Sydney trading director, to the post of national head of investment, replacing Sebastian Rennie who has become chief investment officer at GroupM group level.

With 13 years’ experience in media in both Sydney and Brisbane, Butterworth has been with MEC for almost four years, working closely with Sebastian Rennie to develop the agency’s Sydney investment capabilities. Prior to MEC, she was group investment director on Lion Nathan at ZenithOptimedia, where she spent three years. She has previously worked at Starcom, Universal McCann and OMD.

MEC Australia CEO Peter Vogel said: “Having worked closely with Seb, Claire has the knowledge, skills and connections to take over as national head of investment and I couldn’t be more proud to be able to promote from within for what is a seamless transition for our staff and clients.

“Like Seb before her, Claire will no doubt work tirelessly to implement best-in-class investment solutions for all MEC clients across Australia.”

Butterworth, who assumes the post immediately, added: “This is a great opportunity, particularly at a time when the agency is going from strength to strength in business wins and award-winning work, and I am excited to work across a broader range of clients.
