Independent education provider Macleay College has announced its final 2014 AdSpeaks series – with four high-flying industry professionals lined up to talk about the future of Australian advertising.

Launched by Macleay’s advertising department in 2013, this latest AdSpeaks round will run throughout September, October and November.

The series kicks off on Monday 29 September with Yaffa Publishing’s marketing manager, Chris Hamilton, who will present, ‘The myths about the selling power of advertising’. Hamilton will discuss which mediums are better for engaging, selling and generating a direct response, as opposed to mediums that are better targeted for branding,

In October, Clive Dickens, director of digital strategy & innovation at Southern Cross Austereo, will be joining Macleay to speak about, “SoLoMoVo – smartphones, media and the future of radio’. With award-winning Grant Flannery, senior Lead Strategist at The White Agency, taking the stage in November to discuss, ‘The strategist in the evolving world of advertising’.

The series will culminate on Monday 24 November, when M&C Saatchi’s group innovation director, Ben Cooper, will speak about, ‘Clever Bouy – How innovation and product development are the new frontiers of advertising’.

Head of advertising at Macleay, Ian Thomson, said the continuing success of AdSpeaks is testament to the quality of speakers the series draws.

“AdSpeaks is a high-value experience that allows our students to engage with advertising industry leaders,” he said. “The knowledge they impart gives students a real inside view to where the industry is heading, and how they can be a part of it.”

“The diversity of the speakers ensures a great overview of the current and future Australian advertising landscape, and gives students a head start in preparing for their transition into the industry.”

The full speaker timeline is:

  • Monday, September 29, 12pm: Chris Hamilton (marketing manager at Yaffa Publishing)
  • Monday, October 13, 12pm: Clive Dickens (director of digital strategy and innovation at Southern Cross Austereo)
  • Monday, November 10, 12pm: Grant Flannery (senior lead strategist at The White Agency)
  • Monday, November 24, 12pm: Ben Cooper (group innovation director at M&C Saatchi)

AdSpeaks talks are open to industry, students and public.
