m2m Sydney have today confirmed its appointment as the media agency for Sony Pictures Releasing across Australia.
The announcement springs off the back of an intense and competitive global pitch process that took place in the latter half of 2015, and now sees Omnicom and IPG agencies retained across the Sony Pictures account globally.
Executive VP for Australia/New Zealand & northern Asia Stephen Basil-Jones said the m2m team made an “impresssive and persuasive argument for their appointment to our business”.
“We are excited by this new partnership and our future together.”
m2m Sydney’s managing director Wendy Gower added, “We are absolutely thrilled to have been successful in the pitch process for Sony Pictures.
“With up-coming releases of Angry Birds ,Ghostbusters & Inferno to name but a few, this is undoubtedly an account which offers huge scope to deliver exciting market leading work. We are also delighted to have the opportunity to work closely with Stephen and the team at SPR.”
Since the reinvention of the m2m brand in late 2013, the business has undergone significant growth, reigning successful across a number of new business wins such as Hoyts, Beats by Dre and MachineZone, although the Sony Pictures account is by far the largest new business win.
Sony Pictures Releasing estimate its media spend for the next 12 months to be somewhere around the $15 million mark, with the appointment effective from April 1 2016.
