Kim Williams Joins Board of the Copyright Agency

Former CEO of News Limited, Kim Williams, has been appointed as an independent director to the Board of not-for-profit rights organisation, the Copyright Agency.

Williams replaces outgoing board director and former media executive Brian Johns.

The Copyright Agency’s Chair Sandy Grant said, “Kim is a welcome addition to the Board. He has successfully led a wide range of media and arts organisations, such as Musica Viva Australia, Foxtel, the Australian Film Commission, the Sydney Opera House Trust and News Limited (now News Corp Australia).

“Kim’s expertise and empathy for the creative industries will deliver real benefits to our members and his knowledge and strategic input will complement the Board’s current strengths. Kim will be able to provide insight and thought-leadership on digital media that will prove invaluable.”

Grant applauded departing director Brian Johns.

“I sincerely thank Brian, one of our longest serving directors, for his 13-year commitment to the agency – including six years as Chair. Brian played a significant role in every aspect of the business and has been one of the single greatest contributors to the Copyright Agency’s success in our 40 year history.

“In addition, Brian chaired and championed the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund which to date has provided $15.7m to Australia’s writing and arts sectors. His legacy also includes the landmark website, Reading Australia.”
