“I’m All Grey!” Carrie Bickmore Weighs In On News Anchor Getting Axed After Going Grey

Off the back of a conversation about ageism and sexism, The Project’s Carrie Bickmore has admitted she has gone fully grey.

The admission came because the panel was discussing a viral story about a news anchor that was reportedly fired after she went grey.

According to reports, Lisa LaFlamme was reportedly let go from her news job because she chose to go natural and let her hair go grey. While the network behind the story, CTV, has denied these claims, the story has led to a louder conversation about double standards and the ageism and sexism women experience.

The story even prompted the fast-food chain Wendys to change their mascot’s hair to grey in solidarity with LaFlamme.

Peter Hellier quipped, “I hope if Wendy’s found grey meat in their burgers, they would be changing that!”

Bickmore said, “Is that what you’ve taken out of this story? You guys don’t have to worry about this, do you?”

Bickmore then turned to the all-male panel and announced that they would “all be allowed to keep their jobs,” if they went grey.

Bickmore also touched her signature blonde locks and said: “I’m all grey under here!”

The conversation was frank and honest and a reminder of the double standards women in the media experience and women everywhere experience. While George Clooney gets to be a silver fox, women are often forced to dye their hair because they feel the pressure to look and seem young.

Perhaps Bickmore prefers her hair blonde, or perhaps she feels pressure to appear young to keep her job and status in the media landscape.
