Sky News Australia has today announced it will be the Australian home of the new series, Piers Morgan Uncensored, hosted by the outspoken and controversial UK media figure of the same name.
The new series’ announcement follows Morgan leaving his co-hosting role on Good Morning Britain in March 2021, following backlash over comments he made questioning the Duchess of Sussex’s mental health admissions in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
According to a Sky News press release, the new global show – which will premiere in Australia in late-April – will be a “fearless forum for lively, intelligent debate and agenda-setting interviews; celebrating free speech and the right for people to share their views.”
However, there’s been no comment yet on whether the show will discuss phone-hacking or habitually obsessing over royals.
Nonetheless, Piers Morgan Uncensored will be broadcast across three separate continents, including the UK and the US, where the 60-minute program will air on TalkTV and Fox Nation, respectively.
“I’m delighted to now be returning to live television with a new daily show whose main purpose is to cancel the cancel culture which has infected societies around the world,” said Morgan in a statement.
“I want it to be a platform for lively vigorous debate, news-making interviews, and that increasingly taboo three-letter word: fun. I also want it to annoy all the right people.”
Sky News Australia CEO, Paul Whittaker said the station was “proud” to be the exclusive Australian broadcaster of Piers Morgan Uncensored, which will bring audiences a “new form of global perspective, debate and analysis.”
Piers Morgan Uncensored executive editor, Winnie Dunbar Nelson, added, “Piers will be back on your screens with a bang and we promise a line-up of exciting guests, big opinions, and thought provoking debate. We can’t wait to get started.”
The program will premiere Tuesday 26 April at 9.00pm AEST on Sky News Australia, and will air every following Tuesday to Friday night.
