Hilarious Dogs Beats Comical Cats For Seven

Last night’s broadcast on Seven of Dogs Make You Laugh Out Loud saw more than a million tune in to have a good ol’ chortle at canines.

According to OzTam’s preliminary ratings, the funny dog show was the third most watched show overall last night, not just in the non-news segments.

Pulling in 1.039 million viewers in a five-city metro, only Nine News and Nine News at 6.30 were able to beat the funny things man’s best friend does.

Last week the debut of the feline version of the show, Cats Make You Laugh Out Loud, had 917,000 settling down to watch.

Both shows however have beaten Nine’s reality cooking show The Hotplate, which Seven took to court amid allegations it had copied Seven’s ratings booster My Kitchen Rules.

The Hotplate was the second most watched non-news program last night, with 883,000 viewers, and came in seventh place overall in the top 20 shows on Tuesday night.

Ten’s Great Australian Spelling Bee – which Ten announced this morning it was renewing for a second series – had 616,000 viewers, in 16th place overall.

Seven just managed to scrape to first place in the daily share race last night with 28.7 per cent. Nine was a close second with 27.3 per cent.

In third was Ten with 20.4 per cent, then ABC with 17.2 per cent and SBS at 6.4 per cent.
