Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW), has launched their brand-new campaign to promote the second year of the TAB Million Dollar Chase (MDC), the world’s richest Greyhound race with a $1 Million Dollar purse. Ticketing proceeds from the event will go to Greyhounds As Pets (GAP), the not-for-profit initiative from GRNSW.
The campaign, titled ‘Poetry in Motion’ has been created by Bastion Banjo and features the 2018 MDC champion dog, Mystic Riot. The creative showcases the grace, elegance, athleticism and the power of Greyhounds moving in super slow motion to the beat of dramatic classical music. Poetic words and a beautiful double exposure treatment combine to celebrate greyhounds for the extraordinary athletes that they are.
In an historic announcement, The Million Dollar Chase will be broadcast live on free-to-air television, marking the first time in Australian television history that a dedicated greyhound racing broadcast, will be shown live, nationally, with the event airing on 9 Gem.
Tony Mestrov, CEO of Greyhound Racing NSW, said “This is a tremendous and very significant event for greyhound racing, which will showcase our sport to a much wider audience. This historic telecast will mean that our race – the world’s richest greyhound race – can now be seen in the living rooms of all Australians. I’m delighted that this event, through ticketing proceeds and donations, will support our GAP program, which is a key plank in the industry’s commitment to rehoming retired racing dogs.”
Banjo’s managing partner Andrew Varasdi said, “We’ve been working closely with Greyhound Racing NSW to develop a campaign that not only drives awareness to the world’s richest greyhound race but celebrates and continues to educate people about what magnificent athletes and animals greyhounds are in every way.”
