News Corp Australia is proud to announce the Gold Coast Bulletin as an Official Supporter, newspaper and news site for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

News Corp also announces the Going for Gold Legacy Symposium, an event bringing together world class industry and policy leaders to explore the potential for business, and ensure the legacy of the Games lives on beyond 2018. The Symposium will be held on the Gold Coast on October 31.

Executive Chairman News Corp Australasia Michael Miller said: “Australia, Queensland and the Gold Coast will be in the international spotlight during the GC2018 Commonwealth Games.

“Not only are we committed to helping deliver a successful GC2018 Commonwealth Games, we also want to ensure a transformative legacy for the region well beyond 2018.

“The Going for Gold Legacy Symposium and the expert line-up of speakers will provide local businesses with the information and insights they need to maximise the lead up to, during and post the Games. We are delighted that Robert Thomson, the global CEO of News Corp will attend and address delegates.”

Jason Scott, News Corp Australia managing director of Queensland and Northern Territory, said: “We are proud to be an official supporter for Gold Coast 2018, the key news source delivering local, breaking news and exclusive stories in paper and online as they happen.

“Our commitment to seeing Gold Coast flourish in 2018 has extended beyond celebrating the achievements of our Commonwealth Games athletes, and into a long lasting legacy for the region.

“We have commissioned Bernard Salt to undertake an economic research benefit and legacy review of the GC2018 Commonwealth Games, and we are bringing together great minds from business and politics, who will share insights and lessons learned, helping to capitalise on all the opportunities available pre, during and post games.”

Keynote speaker, leading social demographer and commentator Bernard Salt will deep dive into the learnings uncovered by the research.

GOLDOC chairman, former Queensland Premier and SKY NEWS anchor Peter Beattie will discuss the scale of the 2018 Games for the Gold Coast and former Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett, who was instrumental in Melbourne winning the 2006 Games, will share his experience regarding the Victorian legacy.

SKY NEWS will broadcast the Symposium and SKY NEWS BUSINESS anchor Ticky Fullerton will be Master of Ceremonies, moderating a panel discussion featuring Queensland Tourism Minister Kate Jones, former Premier Rob Borbidge, Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate and Mantra CEO Bob East. The Premier of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk, will also address symposium attendees.

The presentations and discussions will focus on the future of the Gold Coast with a view into what local businesses, the economy, real estate and development will look like and the impact of the Games on the Gold Coast community, development, infrastructure and employment.

World class marketing expert Joe Rogers from leading brand agency The Contenders will conduct a mini marketing masterclass to help set businesses on the path to prosperity, post Games. Joe has worked with clients including Levi’s Wal-Mart, Canadian Tourism, Unilever, ANZ and LVMH.

The Going for Gold Legacy Symposium is being hosted by News Corp Australia, Gold Coast Bulletin and SKY NEWS on Tuesday, October 31, at the Marriott Resort Surfers Paradise. It is a three-hour breakfast brunch event, with tickets costing $80 per person or $720 per table of 10. For more information go to: goldcoastbulletin.com.au/goingforgold
