Gelato Messina is launching at all Woolworths grocery stores nationwide with a new range of pints and frozen ice cream cakes.
The range features six new pints inspired by the best-selling in-store flavours and specials menu, packed with Gelato Messina’s house-made toppings and chunky mix-ins, including super vanilla, dulce de leche, pistachio praline, hazelnut praline, Robert Brownie Jr., and tiramisu.
A new set of ice cream cakes will feature in the frozen cake sector, including tiramisu, iced coco, and chocolate malt.
“At Gelato Messina, we’ve always been pushing boundaries to create products that surprise and delight, and after years of bringing unique flavours to our stores, we’re excited to finally make that experience more accessible to even more Australians through our first, exclusive supermarket range,” said Gelato Messina founder, Nick Palumbo.
“After expanding from our first Darlinghurst store in 2002 to now having 31 stores across Australia and internationally – the next step for us was to find a way to make our products accessible to everyone across the country, without compromising on quality”.
“By working closely with Woolworths, we’ve developed a range that still has the honest quality, the delicious Messina magic, but can now be enjoyed from the comfort of your own freezer—no matter where you are. So when Woolworths approached us, we knew it was time to take the leap and bring delicious and affordable gelato to a wider audience. It’s been a long time coming, and our team worked hard to adapt our iconic flavours and techniques to fit the freezer aisle, without compromising on what makes Messina, Messina,” said Declan Lee, marketing director of Gelato Messina.
“We want people to be just as excited discovering our products in supermarkets as they are when they step into one of our stores. This is a big moment for us and our fans—Messina is now truly within reach, and we can’t wait for people to take it home,” added Lee.
To launch the new range, Gelato Messina collaborated with New York-based Australian artist Jeremyville to create the packaging of the new range. Jeremy developed a series of characters depicting each new flavour, with an updated splash of Messina’s wallpaper print.
“Jeremy was one of Messina’s first customers when we had just one store in Darlinghurst over 20 years ago, and long-term fans will be familiar with Jeremy’s streetscapes which adorn many of Messina’s earlier store walls. It felt only natural to bring him along on this journey too as we expand and bring Gelato Messina to freezers across the nation,” added Lee.
Gelato Messina’s new pints and ice cream cakes will be available exclusively in Woolworths stores across Australia from Monday 14 October.
