With music festivals still seemingly some while away, triple J is currently hosting ‘requestival’ to fill the void for music lovers around the country.
The concept is simple, every song played between 6am – 9pm each day will be made up of requests from triple j listeners.
Upon announcing the initiative, the radio broadcaster promised to play songs that have rarely or never been played on triple j.
But after just one day of festivities, the requests have proven to be even more outlandish than the station’s executives could have expected.
Perhaps the most peculiar song to take the airwaves yesterday was ‘I’ll Make A Man Of You’, by Donny Osmond from Mulan.

Later in the day, triple j aired the entrance theme song of pro wrestler John Cena, much to the delight of listeners.

The day kicked off with ‘Shooting Stars‘, by Bag Raiders, which was soon followed by ‘Milkshake’.
Also earning a feature on day one were Gyroscope, Kisschasy, Pendulum, Colombus, Jack River, Ocean Alley, D12, Joan Jett, The B-52’s, Kendrick Lamar, Lily Allen, Kate Bush and many more.
Requestival continues all week.
