Love ’em or hate ’em, there can be no denying the cheerleaders at American football games are often more entertaining than the actual game itself.
As if to prove the fact comes footage of a routine at a recent college gridiron game between the University of Tennessee and rivals University of Kentucky.
The clip shows what appears to be a middle-aged security guard getting a little too close to the Tennessee dance team.
A little bit of argy-bargy ensues until the whole thing takes a wildly different turn. Watch the fun unfold below.
The whole thing turned out to be a choreographed stunt starring aspiring actor Michael Galyean who also happened to be a cheerleader at school 20 years ago.
Footage of the routine has since gone viral with over 15 million views and, as you’d expect, the social media response has been nothing short of amazing.
“This is so incredibly fun!!” penned one. Another wrote, “The very best thing I’ve ever witnessed.” A third commented, “This vid does not do justice how loud it was when this happened. LOL!”
Galyean later told news site Newsweek: “To go and be on the stand and kind of see the rollercoaster of emotions that the fans went through, you know, it goes from football and excitement, and then they see this guy that’s just interrupting the dance team.”
“I knew there would be some reaction, I didn’t expect that reaction and it was so shockingly warm.
“It was just so well-received. It fed my 18-year-old high school cheerleading soul,” he said.
