Ellen DeGeneres’ long-running talk show The Ellen Degeneres Show is ending this May, so grab yourself some tissues.
DeGeneres announced the ending of her show last year, though she didn’t give the exact end date away.
At the time she told The Hollywood Reporter she decided to end the show, saying, “when you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged — and as great as this show is, and as fun, as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore.”
However, Indy100 has reported the show has finally been given an official end date of May 19th, assumedly DeGeneres will do one last dance!
The show has been on-air since 2003 and has been a vehicle for DeGeneres to blend stand up comedy, with interviews and dance!
Of course, the show was marred with allegations of a toxic workplace environment and that infamous Twitter thread referring to her as ‘one of the meanest people alive’ that went viral.
However, for the bulk of its run, the show was an ratings smash and won over 60 Daytime Emmys.
So it’s an end of an era, and it’ll be interesting to see who takes over DeGeneres’ place as the Queen of daytime.
