Moto racing fans will have the opportunity to experience the thrill of a full throttle bike ride via virtual reality thanks to a new collaboration between CHE Proximity and Swann Insurance.
The ad agency and insurance company have teamed up to launch a VR racing experience at the Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix on Phillip Island this weekend.
Full Tilt will bring the Phillip Island race track to life for Grand Prix attendees using an interactive VR motorcycle simulation using a HTC Vive VR headset, which will display a 360-degree video of the track in high definition.
Full Tilt also features a custom-built VR motorcycle rig with a Vive controller mounted to the front, which provides feedback to the player on the accuracy of their tilt as they move around the track.
Google Cardboards will also be handed out at the event so people can take the experience home with them.
CHE Proximity creative director Tommy McCubbin admitted it was a huge risk to take on something that had never been done before.
“A team of world-class technologists, engineers, and 360 filmmakers have been collaborating for several months on Full Tilt,” he said.
“The result is something very special and offers a unique VR experience.”
Swann Insurance’s manager for direct distribution, Rita Ibrahim, said working with CHE Proximity on Full Tilt was an “awesome collaborative experience”.
“As riders ourselves, we are passionate about bringing the rider experience to a larger audience through cutting edge technology,” she said.
“We are excited to bring our latest innovation to Phillip Island and allow visitors to experience the circuit through the eyes of the riders.”
