Social change agency Carbon Creative has picked up both silver and a coveted gold award in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion category of the 4th Annual Anthem Awards.

The agency won Silver for their branding campaign for First Nations business, tarkiner, and Gold for their 2023 and 2024 National Reconciliation Week campaigns for Reconciliation Australia.

First Nations owned, the tarkiner brand produces kelp-based products and experiences, but is also a vehicle to support, empower and elevate the local First Nations communities of the tarkine in lutruwita (Tasmania).

The 2023 and 2024 National Reconciliation Week campaigns, meanwhile, sought to advance the cause of reconciliation in two uniquely different years different years: the first in the lead-up to the Voice referendum and the second coming after the referendum defeat.

Reconciliation Australia CEO Karen Mundine said: “Both campaigns were enthusiastic in advocating for reconciliation and First Nations justice in a fairer Australia during some very challenging times, and I recognise the skills and creative magic brought by our partner, the First Nations-owned Carbon Creative agency.”

“To say we’re humbled to receive these Anthem awards is an understatement,” said Carbon Creative owner, Managing Director and proud Birri and Guugu Yimidhirr man, Wayne Denning. “Every winner is helping to try and change the world for the better in some way, and we’re honoured to be counted among them.”

Launched in 2021 by The Webby Awards, the Anthem Awards honours the purpose & mission-driven work of people, companies and organisations worldwide, with a record 2,300 entries submitted to the awards this year from over 30 countries.

By amplifying the voices that spark global change, the Anthems are helping to define a new benchmark for impactful work that inspires others to take action in their own communities.

“The Winners of this year’s Anthem Awards are truly inspiring and I am honored to help elevate their impact,” said Anthem Awards General Manager, Patricia McLoughlin. “At this moment, there is a lot of uncertainty in our world, but the tireless and extraordinary efforts of the Anthem Awards community provide hope that a better tomorrow is possible. Thank you to everyone doing this work and making an impact.”
