If you’ve been paying attention to B&T over the past week or so you’d know we’ve given way too much page space to the Bud Light beer fiasco unravelling in the US.

Of course, Bud marketers decided to give the brand a youthful spring clean and brought in trans activist and comic Dylan Mulvaney to front a new campaign. Unfortunately this, in turn, outraged Bud’s loyal customers who subsequently boycotted the brand that saw sales and the share price basically fall through the floor.

But the story doesn’t end there! In yet a further twist, conspirators believe the whole thing is now a CIA plot, while a right-wing politician in the US can’t find anyone to brew his “anti-woke” Bud alternative Ultra Right.

First to the CIA conspiracy theory.

Bud’s parent company is Anheuser-Busch and its CEO is a chap called Brendan Whitworth. Right-wing commentators have dredged up Whitworth’s past which includes a stint working for US spy agency the CIA according to his easily accessible LinkedIn profile.

Therefore they’ve determined Whitworth is a government plant and the Mulvaney stunt is deliberate, leftist propaganda.

It was first called out by right-wing political columnist Benny Johnson who wrote on Twitter: “Hey guys, I think I found the problem.

“The CEO of Budweiser is a CIA operative. No, really.”

Another right-wing Twitter personality, DC_Draino, went a similar route, claiming: “Bud Light’s Woke marketing makes a lot more sense when you realise their CEO was in the CIA

“He’ll never apologise for what AB did b/c he’s a foot soldier for the regime’s Leftist agenda.”

However, others were less convinced, believing it was strange a secretive CIA operative would put that on his LinkedIn profile while others rightly pointed out that the government spy agency was hardly “leftist”.

One person tweeted:  “Active CIA assets always put it on their LinkedIn. It is OpSec101.”

Another said: “Yeah… the famously left-wing CIA… ????”

In further Bud news, the right-wing politician determined to brew his own anti-woke Bud alternative is reportedly having trouble finding a brewer who will actually make the stuff.

As reported on B&T last Tuesday (read the article HERE), pro-Trump pollie Seth Weathers announced plans for his own brew set to be called Conservative Dad’s Ultra Right.

Weathers even made an ad for it (which, thankfully, most people thought was a parody), which you can check out below:

On its website, Ultra Right Beer initially claimed the drink was brewed by a company called Bent River Brewing Co.

However, the goodly folk from Brent River said that wasn’t true and its name had been used without its permission.

A statement from the company said: “We were initially approached to possibly contract a beer for a customer. Without our knowledge, our name was listed on a website for a brief period of time.

“When we were made aware of the marketing for the product, we chose to pass on producing it.”

The website has since been updated, removing the Bent River name and, instead, simply saying it was brewed and canned in “Northern Illinois”.

A banner at the top of the site’s home page claims the beer is “in production”, however, there’s no detailed information as to which specific brewery is allegedly making it.
