Benchvote, a fan engagement platform for sports marketers, sponsors and sports publishers, has joined the inaugural cohort of global accelerator Startupbootcamp’s (SBC) Sports & EventTech focussed program based in the heart of Melbourne.
Funded by LaunchVic, Victoria’s startup agency, it is anticipated these innovations will create a better experience for sports fans and attendees at major events.
The global sporting and major events industry has faced unique challenges during the coronavirus pandemic. Major sports have been either cancelled or suspended, and will not be played in front of full stadiums for some time. With major disruption comes the opportunity for innovation.
Benchvote will apply its innovative digital campaign platform – currently used by clubs and publishers including beIN Sports, Hawthorn FC, Western Sydney Wanderers and more – to help rights holders and brands better engage with audiences and deliver on marketing objectives, and better commercialise sponsorships during this time.
SBC will run their proven accelerator program from the heart of the Sporting Capital of the World, Melbourne Australia, using their world-class digital platform to deliver virtual content to the top global startups. This will bring powerful new capabilities to sporting bodies as we emerge from this pandemic, supporting growth and shaping the future of viewing, commercialising and engaging with sport and major events.
10 startups from around the world were selected to join the 2020 SBC cohort by over 100 industry experts at the vigorous SBC Virtual Selection Days held earlier this week.
“We’re delighted to have been chosen to join this cohort. The sporting industry is currently facing significant challenges, and will continue to face new ones as normal life begins to resume. I believe technology will have a fundamental part to play in how the industry recovers and am proud to play a part in it with Startupbootcamp, and their partners,” said Benchvote CEO Adam Mussa.
SBC’s partners are made up of leading sporting bodies Cricket Australia, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, the Victoria Racing Club, the Melbourne Racing Club, Netball Australia and our corporate and supporting partners; Australian Sports Technology Network, Asahi Beverages, University of Melbourne, DiUS, Lucidica, City of Melbourne, KHQ Lawyers, Adventum, Pitcher Partners, AWS and Stripe.
