The man responsible for The Australian’s Media Diary section, Stephen Brook, has announced his departure from the News Corp publication.

Brook joined News Corp in 1995, where he worked as a journalist for eight years before moving over to The Guardian and then going freelance.

In 2011, Brook became media editor of The Australian, and then in 2013 became the deputy editor for the newspaper’s monthly luxury lifestyle magazine, WISH.

Brook transitioned to editor of The Australian’s Weekend A Plus in 2013, and then took on the role of features editor at the News Corp masthead in 2016.

He has been driving The Australian’s Media Diary section for almost two years, and also hosts a weekly interview podcast with journalists, writers, and other media careerists called Behind the Media.

Brook announced thanked The Australian’s editors, colleagues and readers in announcing his departure on Twitter yesterday morning.

After 15 years I am leaving The Australian newspaper.
Thanks to editors and colleagues and readers.
I’m so glad you loved my Behind The Media podcasts.
And thanks for all those Diary tips folks! @aus_media @australian https://t.co/W2XPpqO8oz

B&T understands Brook will finish up at The Australian in December, and has approached News Corp for comment.
