If Apple Music’s latest show Planet Of The Apps is to be believed- app developers are the rock stars of right now. Planet Of The Apps is all about app developers pitching their ideas for apps to a celebrity panel featuring Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gary Vaynerchuk, and will.i.am.

‘Planet of the Apps’ is coming to Apple Music in the next few months,” said Ben Silverman at the Code Media conference at the Ritz-Carlton in Dana Point, California. The concept for the reality-TV show is something like “Shark Tank” meets “The Voice.”

The winner gets $US10 million in funding from Lightspeed Venture Partners as well as premium placement on the front page of Apple’s App Store.

Here’s the campaign:

Twitter response:

Think the outrage towards Planet of the Apps is bad now? Wait until the apps featured in the show receive prime App Store real estate.

— Neil Cybart (@neilcybart) February 14, 2017

I don’t like the Apple that invests time/effort in Planet of the Apps while the Mac Pro goes 4 years without an update.

— Greg Koenig (@gak_pdx) February 14, 2017

We’re not updating the Mac Pro until you watch the entire season of Planet of the Apps.

No. Just no.

This is a *real* TV show from Apple. And it’s literally called “Planet of the Apps.” What is happening ? pic.twitter.com/FQUOIP6Nru

“Lets make Shark Tank for apps.”
“Dope, lets get Alba, Paltrow, Will.i. Am, and that wine guy as judges.” #PlanetOftheApps

What do you think about the new #PlanetOfTheApps series from Apple? I think the naysayers are being too negative – I’d watch this, looks fun https://t.co/V1wuClrfWo

— Jason Dunn (@jasondunn) February 14, 2017

#planetoftheapps looks like a terrible rip off of dragons den & the voice with a gimicky escalator – all those billions and that’s the show?

— Paul Nevison (@paulnevison) February 14, 2017

I made a #PlanetoftheApps bingo viewing sheet after watching the trailer. pic.twitter.com/o0sbgq3fW8

Paul Haddad, the developer of popular iOS apps including Tweetbot:

I can’t wait to see https://t.co/50qeVJsNkW doing code review. “You’ve got an unsatisfiable layout constraint, look at my gold shoes!”

— Paul Haddad (@tapbot_paul) February 14, 2017

Realmac Software founder Dan Counsell:

Apple should be producing amazing content like Netflix Originals does. Not this garbage. I am disappointed.

— Dan Counsell (@dancounsell) February 14, 2017

Apple blogger and Instapaper founder Marco Arment:

But actual developers…

Well, this likely has about as much relevance to reality as most “reality” shows.

— Marco Arment (@marcoarment) February 14, 2017

Jake Frey, an app designer at Frey Labs

Devs: Hey the App Store has a few problems and its hard to be discovered. Can you take a look?

Apple: Uh nope but that would make great TV! https://t.co/IjYAc58XLF
