The Australians’ performance in the cricket has turned into a ratings drawcard for Nine with millions tuning in to The Ashes.
The Ashes session three pulled in 1.519 million viewers for Nine, session two won 1.104 million and the first was watched by 1.06 million, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.
With Nine News (1.612 million) crowning Sunday night’s ratings Nine won the night overall with a combined 31% share of all free-to-air viewers.
Nine’s primary channel won 25%.
The result put Nine ahead of Seven which sat on a total 27.4% with 19% for its main channel.
Seven News (1.074 million) was Seven’s most watched program, it came in sixth behind Nine’s strong line-up including 60 Minutes (1.205 million).
Border Security – Australia’s Front Line won one other top 10 place for Seven with 833,000 viewers.
The ABC sat on a combined 17.6% share of all free-to-air viewers with 12.9% for ABC1.
Ten came forth with a total 16.3% and 10.6% for its primary channel.
SBS took 7.7% with 5.7% going to SBS One.
