Woolworths hires new marketing boss for supermarkets

Woolworths has announced that it has hired Jess Gill to the role of general manager of marketing for its supermarkets.

Gill will report to managing director Tjeerd Jegen, who said he’s been very impressed with the work she has performed for Woolworths in her most recent role as head of marketing strategy for consultancy, Growth Mantra.

Kurt Kamp, group marketing director, has been care-taking the role since Lizzy Ryley moved into a group-wide role as general manager – Customer Loyalty, a few months ago.

"Retail marketing is an extremely fast paced, dynamic space that requires a strategic mind, steady hand and cut-through flair to reach our customers in a highly competitive environment," said Jegen, adding that Gill "is the right person for this crucial role.

Gill has over 20 year marketing experience including marketing roles at Macquaire Bank, Telstra and TBWA.
