Jane Huxley appointed to top Pandora role in ANZ

Music streaming service Pandora has hired former Fairfax digital chief Jane Huxley as the head of its Australia and New Zealand operation, as it announces the launch of local channels.

Huxley left Fairfax in June after her role was merged with that of her print counterpart, but will be responsible for the expansion of the Pandora brand in the ANZ market in the new role.

Pandora’s founder Tim Westergren is currently on a tour in Australia and New Zealand, holding Town Hall events in Melbourne tonight and Sydney tomorrow.

The company has also launched its hugely popular mobile and tablet apps in Australia, and is predicting a huge uptake of the service, with over 75% of US listeners coming through that method.

Huxley said: “I feel as though I’ve stumbled upon music’s greatest secret and I can’t wait for Australians and New Zealanders to enjoy music in the Pandora way.

“The service has certainly changed the way people have consumed and enjoyed music in America for the last 12 years, and I’m looking forward to seeing its adoption in Australia and New Zealand.

“This version of Pandora has been built specifically for Australians and New Zealanders and we are going to be all about bringing the best music experience of local and international artists as well as supporting local musicians.

“My focus for the coming year will be to grow the audience for this great new medium as fast as I can.”
