“The Art Gallery of New South Wales is pleased to announce today that Jacquie Riddell has been appointed to the new role of Director of Public Engagement.

Jacquie Riddell has over 25 years of leadership experience in media, communications, marketing, brand development, innovation and content creation. She has helped create television channels and radio stations; and led the development of new content formats, digital media concepts and some world-famous marketing initiatives.

Jacquie will be responsible for developing and delivering marketing and communications strategies to reinforce and enhance the Gallery’s reputation as a leading international art museum, implement audience development strategies, lead education and public programming and expand membership engagement.

Jacquie joins the Gallery at an exciting time when it is developing the Sydney Modern expansion and transformation of the institution. She will be a wonderful addition to our leadership team as we develop new ways of engaging with our audiences. Jacquie has a very strong background in audience research, media and marketing and extensive experience in highly successful Australian organisations such as SBS and Triple J. We look forward to welcoming her to the Art Gallery of NSW, said Dr Michael Brand, the Gallery’s director.

Jacquie more recently has been consulting to the media and creative industries with her own business Captain + The Chief. She was previously Director of Marketing and Communications for Barangaroo and prior to that was the Director of Marketing at SBS for six years. Her work at SBS included the development of the organisation’s brand platform ‘Six Billion Stories and counting…’ as well as the creation of arts channel STUDIO, which won numerous international creative awards.

Before Jacquie was the Network Program Director and previously Network Marketing Manager for Triple J. While there, she led the network’s expansion across Australia, created the famous drum logo, and was instrumental in the development of the Beat the Drum, Unearthed and Hottest 100 promotional concepts.

Jacquie is highly experienced in digital media creation, having created a wide range of successful social media strategies, websites, digital/ITV television applications and mobile apps.

Jacquie Riddell is also on the board of the Australia-Korea Foundation. She will commence in the AGNSW role on 10 March 2014.”
