Leading online women’s network 9Honey has launched its first dedicated podcast, Super Mums, hosted by 9Mums editor Kelly Baker and journalist Melinda Ayre.
Super Mums is not your average parenting podcast. It’s a funny, raw and honest look at the ups and downs of parenting, love, life and everything in between.
The podcast was created by Baker and Ayre, two single mums, and is aimed at other women who often feel the pressure to be “super mums” when in fact there is no such thing.
“We called the podcast Super Mums because we wanted something that was firmly tongue-in-cheek,” said Baker. “Do I think I’m a super mum? God no. The title is ironic and something both Mel and I giggle over. After all, what is a super mum?”
Ayre said the core of the podcast will be her long-term friendship with Baker and the type of life conversation they would have over dinner and a glass of wine.
“Kelly and I have known each other for over 15 years and have seen each other through three weddings, two husbands, four children, two divorces, one split, an array of dangerous liaisons, tears, laughter, hugs, hilarity and a truckload of champagne,” says Ayre.
“I’m not sure exactly where the podcast will go but I know it will be a lot of fun.”
The first episode of Super Mums covers a wide array of topics, including what to do when you love your child but don’t actually like them, breastfeeding, and also an interview with Today Extra presenter, Sonia Kruger.
“The chemistry between Kelly and Mel is incredible and you instantly feel like you are listening in on what is a fun and really interesting conversation,” said Kerri Elstub, Network Editor – 9Honey.
“Over the past nine months 9Honey has firmly established itself as a leader in the online women’s lifestyle space, with a unique audience of 1.473 million. I’m extremely excited about the launch of Super Mums, our first dedicated podcast for 9Honey, as we know it is content that will resonate with our readers.”
