The Spanish city of Palma on the island of Majorca is the latest European city to embrace the ease, convenience and environmental attributes of the electric scooter.
However, an increase in use has also created concerns about safety issues surrounding the two-wheeled electric devices.
Enter local Palma TV station i3 who set about investigating locals’ concerns about the faddish new transport by interviewing a young woman whose taken to one as her newfound form of transport.
As per the footage below, the reporter asks the woman if she’s across Palma’s laws regarding motorised scooters.
To which the woman responds: “You can’t go anywhere unless it’s a cycle path or ACIRE (zones of restricted vehicle access in the city). It’s still not mandatory to wear a helmet and you can’t wear headphones with music and I think at night you can go anywhere.”
It’s from there she promptly gets poleaxed by a car.
Check out the fun below and, rest assured, according to social media reports the woman thankfully escaped any major injury.
