The ABC’s valiant attempt to shine a light on the health of the nation may suggest we don’t actually want a light shone there with the second episode of Magda’s Big National Health Check struggling to just 393,000 viewers last night.

In fact, viewers seemed more interested in thievery, with the ABC’s Stuff The British Stole one of the evening’s top entertainment shows posting 428,000 OzTAM metro viewers.

Nine’s new dating program My Mum Your Dad saw some growth from its Monday night debut, rising 17,000 viewers to 413,000 last night.

However, it was Seven who ultimately won Tuesday, albeit by the slimmest of margins.

Seven took 26.9 per cent of all of last night’s viewers (all channels), seeing off Nine who did 26.6 per cent. 10 scrapped for third with 18.7 per cent and the ABC had 18.5 per cent. SBS did 9.4 per cent.

Seven’s best was again its 6pm news with 877,000. The Chase did 470,000 and Home And Away had 455,000.

The ABC’s 7pm news pulled 563,000 and 7.30 did 486,000.

Over at Nine, its 6pm news bulletin posted 706,000 and ACA did 612,000.

Other highlights for Nine included Hot Seat (297,000) and a repeat of Travel Guides (267,000).

10’s evening ran this way – The Project (331,000), The Cheap Seats (324,000), a repeat of The Dog House (293,000) and 10 News First (263,000).
