Seven took the honours in last night’s battle for viewer eyeballs, but it was a tough tussle with a number of new shows debuting.

SBS got a rare outing in last night’s top 20 with Who Do You Think You Are? pulling 417,000 viewers according to OzTAM metro numbers.

The ABC’s Miriam Margoyles Almost Australian debuted to 573,000.

Nine decided to resurrect ABBA, its Secrets Of Their Greatest Hits managed 476,000.

While 10’s MasterChef was the pick of the entertainment shows with 992,000.

Seven won the night with 26.2 per cent of all the eyeballs (all channels). Nine had a neat 25, 10 did 22.1 per cent, the ABC took home 17.6 per cent and SBS pulled 9.1 per cent.

Doers for Seven included its 6pm news (1.187 million), The Chase (673,000), Home And Away (653,000) and Border Security (475,000).

Standouts for 10 were The Project (637,000), How To Stay Married (428,000) and 10 News First (407,000).

Over at Nine, its 6pm news did 1.116 million, ACA had 762,000 and then, of course, ABBA.

The ABC’s evening ran thus: 7pm news (874,000), 7.30 (628,000), Miriam Margoyles Almost Australian (573,000) and Foreign Correspondent (483,000).
