It’s doing wonders for the Australian Radio Network’s MIX offering so could a new look be the ticket for Southern Cross Austereo’s Today Network?
In a memo to staff, SCA director of metro operations, Guy Dobson revealed that the Today Network will become Today’s Hit Network next year with an all new look.
In October, SCA announced new station hit107 would take over from SAFM in Adelaide, the logo a sign of things to come.
In the past year since the departure of key talent, the Today Network has struggled to capture audience share.
Next year the network has a rejigged line up it hopes will turn its fortunes around. In Sydney, the poorly performing breakfast team has been ditched in favour of up-and-comers Dan and Maz and midway through the year, Hamish and Andy will return to national drive.
ARN’s rebrand of its Sydney Mix FM offering to KIIS has been so successful for the network, 2015 will see it roll out in Melbourne.
But for the Today Network, while the network name and look may be changing, the individual station names will stay.
In the memo to staff, Dobson wrote: “If you’re wondering why we kept the Fox, 8105 and 2Day names I’ll tell you. There’s life in the brands. Even through 2Day FM’s darkest years, it’s still reigned supreme.”
In a statement from SCA, Dobson added: “I’m excited to announce the launch of Today’s Hit Network which marks the start of an exciting new era for our hit music stations in 2015. Expect great new shows, a new music format and a new ethos in everything we do that will give our listeners and our clients the best content and winning ideas. It’s a fresh new look to compliment the exceptional content we’re excited to roll out in 2015.”
