Thursday TV Wrap: Blinder! A Whopping 1M Tune In To AFL On Seven, With Less Love For NRL On Nine

With the AFL back on and a new broadcasting deal to boot, no doubt everyone at Seven is cheering thanks to last night’s cracking footy numbers.

A massive one million viewers tuned in to Thursday night football on Seven to watch Collingwood and Richmand draw, leading the broadcaster to a primary channel audience share of 25.2 per cent, according to OzTAM metro numbers.

How did the other channels fair? Well 10’s MasterChef did the goods (875,000), Nine’s Hot Seat was the entertainment of choice (570,000), while at the ABC, 426,000 tuned in to watch 7.30.

Here’s how the rest of the night ran:

Seven

News did 1.10m, The Chase did 641,000, AFL post-match did 468,000 and the pre-match did 420,000, while Home and Away did 405,000.

Nine

News did 1.04m, ACA did 698,000 and Thursday Night NRL Live did 377,000.

10

The Project did 516,000, Celebrity Gogglebox USA did 462,000 and 10 News First did 382,000.

ABC

News did 722,000.

Primary channel share 

In primary channel, Seven won with 25.2 per cent, Nine did 16.1 per cent and 10 did 14.6 per cent. ABC and SBS did 8.5 per cent and 4.7 per cent respectively.

All channel share 

Seven pulled a huge 36.6 per cent, Nine followed with 22.6 per cent, 10 did 20.3 per cent, while ABC and SBS did 12.3 per cent and 8.1 per cent respectively.
