Sunday Night TV Wrap: Seven Romps It Home With Record-Breaking Share

Sunday Night TV Wrap: Seven Romps It Home With Record-Breaking Share

Seven had a stellar Sunday night, snaring a massive 39.9 per cent audience share last night, the biggest number by any network since current ratings began way back in 2001.

Despite the astonishing number, the top show of the night was Nine’s Married At First Sight that pulled in 1.163 million viewers according to OzTam figures.

Seven’s success left its rivals in its wake. Nine still managed a credible 29.5 per cent but it was a car crash for the other three. The ABC (14.5 per cent) meant it was a miserable night for Ten who could muster only 11.8 per cent. While virtually no one watched SBS, that pulled a lowly 4.3 per cent.

Seven’s success was down to its big guns – MKR with 1.162 million, its 6pm news bulletin that pulled 1.17 million and its Winter Olympics coverage with 1.04 million.

MAFS aside, Nine’s best was its 6pm news bulletin with 960,000, while Underbelly Files; Chopper also did well with 903,000.

Ten’s best was I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! that pulled 636,000, but rose to 651,000 for the elimination. However, The Sunday Project had a dismal evening, managing a poor 390,000.

For the ABC, its best was its 7pm news bulletin that had 655,000 viewers. While, its two-part Hawke: The Larrikin And The Leader did well with 629,000. The SBS did not feature in the top 20 programs.
