OMD Australia has been appointed Suncorp’s Master Media Agency to manage the media planning and buying for the group’s network of brands including Suncorp, AAMI, GIO and Apia.
The appointment of OMD comes after Suncorp confirmed it was reviewing its media account in October, putting incumbent Starcom on notice.
It also coincides with the company’s move to a network of brands model, with Suncorp as the national master brand.
Suncorp executive general manager of brand and marketing Mim Haysom said it was an exciting time as the company brought together its brands, channels and partner solutions to meet more customer needs.
“Suncorp offers a customer experience unlike any other in Australia, providing customers with a central place to access banking, insurance and wellbeing solutions to support them in the moments that matter,” Haysom said.
“We’re thrilled to be working with OMD on this journey. The agency’s wealth of experience and capabilities will play a critical role in accelerating our Masterbrand strategy and strengthening our customer connections.
“We would like to thank our former partner Publicis Media for its continued passion and support over many years, and we look forward to continuing our ongoing partnership with Publicis and Leo Burnett as our wonderful and talented creative partners.”
“OMD will be an invaluable extension of our brand and marketing team, providing strategic support on our
media strategy, third party analytics and account management across all our brands.”
OMD Australia CEO Aimee Buchanan said the company was proud to be partnering with Suncorp.
“This relationship represents the right cultural fit between our businesses and creates an opportunity for us to
challenge each other to drive growth for Suncorp,” Buchanan said.
“I am incredibly proud of the OMD team for the effort and passion that has gone into this process.”
OMD’s appointment is effective from 1 December 2018.
