Sports Marketing Stunt: Horror Icons Square Off At Japanese Baseball Game

Have you thought to yourself- I wish I could see two terrifying horror characters playing baseball? Well all your dreams have come true with this bizarre sports marketing stunt from Japan starring Sadako from The Ring pitching at The Grudge’s Kayako.

The pair took to the mound to throw the first pitch at a national baseball game between Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters and the Yakult Swallows- after they terrified some cheerleaders. This weird marketing stunt is to promote the upcoming Sadako vs Kayako movie.

Despite having hair in her face, Sadako throws a good ball. Sadako vs Kayako is inspired by a fan-made video of the two characters which went viral in Japan. The film comes out in June.

Speaking of sports marketing, if this kind of stunt floats your boat, give this little link a click and find out more about our spectacular Ministry of Sports Marketing conference coming up on July 19. It’s one not to be missed.
