Ridley Scott’s Hennessy’s Ad Makes No Sense Whatsoever, But It’s Epic All The Same

Ridley Scott has directed some of the most acclaimed and visually stunning films over this 40-odd year career. Think Aliens, Blade Runner, Black Hawk Down and The Martian.

And with his recent return to his first love, advertising, Scott is back bringing many elements he clearly learned as a film maker.

Take his new spot for upmarket cognac brand Hennessy. Titled “The Seven Worlds” it comes direct from Ridley’s sci-fi playbook.

The work of Hennessy’s creative agency DDB Paris and directed by Scott, the visually stunning spot is – at four-minutes long – more short film than ad.

Commenting on the ad, Scott said: “I was attracted to this project because I was inspired by the potential for art and entertainment to bring this story to life.

“Hennessy has a great product, and I was lucky enough to have the freedom to interpret this and create something amazing. I think people will be stunned when they see the film.”
