Figures from 2022’s third GfK Radio Ratings Metro & DAB+ have just been released, with some very surprising – and not so surprising – results, as Australia once again embraces the norm in post-pandemic life.

In the not-so-surprising news, Ben Fordham continued his dominance over Sydney, with 2GB’s wonder-boy claiming first place in the breakfast ratings, though he’s beginning to feel the heat from Kyle & Jackie O as the KIIS 106.5 duo continue to ride the growth wave from last month.

In Melbourne, 3AW once again reigned supreme, claiming the top spot despite a small drop in listeners. 3AW’s breakfast team of Ross & Russell were able to extend what was already a comfortable lead over the other stations, scoring a 19.4 overall share, almost double that of their closest competitors, GOLD 104.3’s Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show, which had a rating of 10.0 overall.

In Melbourne’s Drive slot, 104.3’s Gavin Miller had a small growth, which was good enough to give the show first place as its main competitor, 3AW’s Drive With Tom Elliott had a drop that saw them fall to second.

Adelaide saw the return of ABC ADE to top spot as it reclaimed the position from MIX 102.3 that experienced a small drop in its ratings, yet enough to cost them first place.

ABC ADE continued its dominance in the other slots as their morning show, Breakfast with Satcey Lee and Nikolai Beilharz went even higher in the ratings, however it was NOVA91.9’s Kate, Tim & Joel who had the last laugh in the drive slot.

In Perth, the competition was fierce but NOVA93.7 managed to come out on top, while their Kate, Tim & Joel show was also able to attain first place in the drive ratings.

Up north in Brisbane, NOVA nabbed first spot as B105 came second and KIIS 97.3 and 104.5 TRIPLE M tied for third.

It was a great month for the Kate, Tim & Joel show that was able to come out on top in not one, but three different states, showing how much it resonates with its audience!
