Radio Ratings: Ben Fordham Continues To Smash Brekkie Radio Ratings

Figures from 2022’s first GfK Radio Ratings Metro & DAB+ have just been released, with some very surprising – and not so surprising – results, as Australia once again embraces the norm in post-pandemic life.

In the not-so-surprising news, Ben Fordham continued his dominance over Sydney, as 2GB’s wonder boy claimed top brekky spot ahead of ABC SYD, and KIIS 106.5’s Kyle & Jackie O show, which still managed to up its listenership

Down south in Melbourne, 3AW reigned supreme, claiming top spot despite a minuscule drop in listeners. 3AW’s Ross and Russell soundly obliterated the other stations, scoring Melbourne’s top brekky show with 22.5 per cent overall share, ahead of runner up in ABC’s Sammy J, and GOLD 104.3’s Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show, with both shows recording 9.8 and 9.7 per cent overall share, respectively.

It was a similar story in Melbourne’s drive slot, where 3AW’s Drive With Tom Elliott besting GOLD 104.3’s Gavin Miller, with both programs still increasing their listenership.

In Adelaide, ABC ADE won gold in overall share, while it’s breakfast program Breakfast with Ali Clarke also claimed first place, ahead of FIVEaa’s Breakfast with David Penberthy & Will Goodings, which still upped its listenership an impressive 2.5 per cent.

In Perth, 96FM narrowly edged out NOVA 93.7 in the overall share race to win top spot. However, it was the latter who would have the last laugh, winning both breakfast and drive slots with respective Nathan, Nat & Shaun and Kate, Tim & Joel programs.

Up north in Brisbane, NOVA 106.8 would nab top spot, ahead of ABC BRIS which tied with B105 for second place. That said, it was the breakfast slot which saw the most impressive win, with ABC BRIS’s Breakfast with Craig Zonca and Loretta Ryan winning first place with an eye-raising 3.9 per cent increase in overall share.

The national drive shows also continued to kick goals, with Nova’s Kate, Tim & Joel scoring top spot in Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, and rivals in the Hit Network’s Carrie & Tommy coming runner’s up in Perth and Brisbane.
