Qantas flight attendants will apparently be wearing All Blacks jerseys on flights as part of a Twitter wager between Qantas and Air New Zealand.
A few days before the Rugby World Cup, which aired in Australia early Sunday morning, a cheeky Twitter feud broke out between the Qantas Twitter account and the Air New Zealand Twitter account.
Qantas is a major sponsor of the Aussie rugby team the Wallabies, and Air New Zealand of the All Blacks – the two teams competing for the title.
.@Qantas So we’ve been thinking about this wager. How about you paint your planes like this? #AirlineWager #NZLvAUS pic.twitter.com/46HhWkVyi7

.@Qantas OK, how about this? On Monday in the air, your crew wear our jerseys. #AirlineWager #NZLvAUS

.@FlyAirNZ While black is slimming, we think it needs a golden touch. Something like this… #AirlineWager #NZLvAUS pic.twitter.com/FxADqwUsdJ

.@Qantas No we’ve been too busy sourcing @AllBlacks jerseys for your crew. Tricky, as they’re in demand @ the moment. #AirlineWager #NZLvAUS

@Qantas Thank you – See you tomorrow for jersey handover + pilot briefing. Looking forward to seeing you in black. #AirlineWager #NZLvAUS

The banter between the two airlines saw a wager suggested where the losing team had to paint one of its planes in the other team’s colours.
However, potentially due to the hefty price tag that would be attached to such a venture, the team who came second – which devastatingly was the Wallabies – was to wear the other team’s uniforms onboard.
