The former Bohemia boss has resurfaced weeks after he left Australia at one of the UK’s hottest creative shops.
Paul Hutchison has joined in the newly-created role of head of media. He will be responsible for developing and leading Mother’s media and communications planning as the agency aims to produce a more integrated approach to its advertising services.
“We’re sure that ‘Hutch’ will bring radical accountability to how we approach media, he has high standards and is primed to bring a bit of media rebelliousness to the UK market – for clients and for creativity, the need has never been greater,” Mother partner Katie Mackay-Sinclair said.
Hutch led M&C Saatchi’s media arm Bohemia for two years before upping sticks with his wife Patty and dog Penny and sailing back to Blighty.
He was tasked with revitalising the agency and overhauled its culture while introducing a ‘handcrafted memorable media’ proposition.
Prior to Bohemia, he was the CEO of Wavemaker UK and held senior roles at MEC (which merged with Maxus to become Wavemaker) and creative agency DLKW.
He now joins an award-winning creative agency whose clients include IKEA, KFC and Uber.
Hutchison said he first met Mother while working on the Coca-Cola account together.
“Since then I’ve always been a massive fan of their approach of applying creativity to everything,” he said. “With one of the strongest agency leadership teams anywhere in the world, time and again, they manage to bring something different and relevant to our industry.
“The opportunity to join the team, and to help to bring the Mother media vision to life in the UK and internationally is one I simply couldn’t resist.”
