Working from home continues to be at the forefront of many people’s minds, as searches for office chairs increased by one hundred and fifteen per cent, while searches for monitors increased by eighty per cent and desks by fifty per cent.

Equally as important to any home office is the coffee machine – for which searches increased by twenty-three per cent.

Gumtree users were clearly also keen to improve their fitness, as home gym and other fitness searches rose by one hundred and twelve per cent. In other lifestyle activities, searches for video game consoles rose by thirty-four per cent.

The pandemic may have inspired a handful of budding Mozarts, as musical instrument searches rose by twelve per cent.

For the home bakers and the home improvers, kitchen/dining/pots/pans searches increased by fifty-four percent, while searches for garden tools and hand tools also rose (thirty-one per cent and eighteen per cent respectively).

According to Gumtree’s analysis, “for retailers offering furniture, appliances and electronics, trades and DIY suppliers, now is the time to tap into the trend.”
