As part of a concerted push to drive design thinking and impactful brand creative throughout the organisation, Brand consulting and design agency Landor Sydney has brought Tom Carey (pictured above in pink shirt) and Matty Johnson (pictured above in black t-shirt) into the fold as creative directors.

Carey is an award-winning designer with a range of experience in a number of brand agencies.

He has worked with iconic brands including Telstra, BBC, Universal Music, and was a key part of the team that won three Cannes Lions for the rebrand of the Sydney Opera House.

Working in noted agencies across UK, Singapore and Australia, Johnson has developed disruptive and effective designs for clients such as Diageo, Unilever and Beam Suntory, resulting in over 30 industry awards including a First Place from The Dieline, Gold from Graphis and a Pinnacle from AGDA.

Carey and Johnson will lead Landor’s brand and consumer teams respectively under the guidance of executive creative director Giles Day (pictured above, front row, third from the left).

“I’m delighted to have tricked first Tom, then Matty into joining the team,” Day said.

“We have the ambitious creative leadership we need to get the most out of our young and talented team, and create brilliant work for our clients.”

Landor Australia managing director Dominic Walsh added: “We’ve seen a significant shift in what our clients need from a branding agency.

“These appointments signify a substantial change for Landor Australia by placing innovation and award-winning creativity at the heart of the business.”
