Karl Stefanovic Calls Out Government For Spending Like “Drunken Sailors!”

The release of the budget always spawns a thousand, “Winners and Losers!” headlines but it’s pretty rare someone famous speaks out on it.

Before the budget was even announced, Stefonivic took the government to task on Today Show.

Finance Minister Simon Birmingham appeared on the morning show to talk about the upcoming budget and also explained the government had cut spending.

Stefanovic replied, “You’re spending like drunken sailors before this election!”

Zinger alert!

Also, it seems like the phrasing has already made its way into Twitter users’ vocab!

James, to be fair, drunken sailors usually spend their own money. https://t.co/cLAKqOtdp5

Of course, Birmingham disagreed with that statement and a more sensible conversation continued but it was a pretty cutting line from Stefanovic.

Of course, between Stefanovic calling people drunken sales and Kochie feuding with ScoMo the morning shows really aren’t holding back!
