After a competitive pitch process, Red Bull Australia has appointed Havas Sports & Entertainment to its Red Bull Flugtag event.
The appointment will see Havas Sports & Entertainment provide event management, live activation and partnership support to the globally-recognised event coming later this year.
Red Bull Flugtag challenges the brave and brainy to design, build and pilot home-made flying machines off a six-metre-high platform in the hopes of soaring into the skies, or more often, plunging into the waters below.
Teams are judged on three criteria: flight distance, creativity of the craft and showmanship. This criteria has inspired flying tacos, prehistoric pterodactyls and even Snoopy and the Gang to grace the Red Bull Flugtag flight decks.
Francis Coady, general manager of Havas Sports & Entertainment, said: “Red Bull is one the most innovative brands in the world that places the audience at the centre of its live events and activations. We are delighted to be working with them on Red Bull Flugtag in 2018.”
Since the first Red Bull Flugtag took place in Vienna, Austria, in 1992, more than 150 Red Bull Flugtag events have been held around the globe in 35 different cities, attracting up to 300,000 spectators for a single event.
The world record for the longest flight is 78.6 metres, occurring in 2013 in Long Beach, California. The last Red Bull Flugtag held in Australia was in 2010 at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair in Sydney.
