Google has announced Gustaf Brusewitz will start as the Head of Communications and Public Affairs in late August (filling the role previously held by Annie Baxter).

In other news, our Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Shane Treeves is moving to an Google APAC social communications role based in Sydney. Google is currently looking for a consumer product comms role – see details on careers page.

Brusewitz joined Google in 2012 and is the current head of communications for Google in the Nordics, based out of Stockholm. Previously he worked for Sony Mobile Communications in London as head of external communications, and before that for the Nordic public broadcasting companies in Brussels. He holds a Master’s degree in European Affairs from College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.

Gustaf said: “Despite a 15000 km distance between Stockholm and Sydney, the Australian and Swedish markets share many of the same characteristics, the weather not being one, with tech and media savvy consumers fast to adopt new technologies. I couldn’t be more excited about moving to Sydney and joining the Google Australia and New Zealand team.”

Tim Chatwin, director, APAC Communications, said: “I’m over the moon to welcome Gustaf as Head of Communications for Google Australia and New Zealand. Talented Swedes have a great track record in Australia – it was the place where ABBA first found international fame and Stefan Edberg won his breakthrough tennis major.

“While Gustaf may not wear platform heels or have a grand slam level serve-volley game – and it is hard to do both – he’s a brilliant communicator. His broad range of experience across communications will help an already high-flying team achieve even greater things as we tell our story of partnering in the future success of both of these great countries.”
