ITV show Good Morning Britain has seen a drop off in numbers from last week, when Morgan left the show after he was confronted about his comments on meghan markle.

According to UK publication The Metro, the program has lost 40 per cent of its viewership from last week.

More than 1.3 million viewers watched Good Morning Britain last week when Morgan commented on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In the episode, he cast doubt on Markle’s assertions that her time in the Royal Family severely impacted her mental health.

The episode was the most complained about program in UK TV history, according to UK regulatory watchdog Ofcom.

After storming off set during last Tuesday’s episode when confronted about his views by co-presenter Alex Beresford, Morgan left the show.

This Wednesday, Good Morning Britain had approximately 800,000 viewers, the joint lowest viewership over the last four weeks. It shares that record with the February 26 and March 5 episodes, which aired while Morgan was still a host.

Morgan has now been replaced by co-host Ben Shepard.

Despite the hit to ratings, Shepard’s first episode hosting the show on Monday 15th had the third biggest Monday audience of 2021 so far.

Rival program BBC Breakfast, however, beat Good Morning Britain by around 800,000 viewers at its peak.

Morgan’s final episode was the first time Good Morning Britain had beaten BBC Breakfast in the TV ratings.

Morgan has confirmed he will be returning to ITV to continue his show Life Stories.
