Getty Images has announced its new role as the official photography, video and production music partner for the world’s largest short film festival, Tropfest Australia.

“Getty Images is the engine driving a more image-rich digital world, and we firmly believe in the power of visual content to tell stories, evoke emotion and ultimately drive change. That’s why we’re excited to be supporting local Australian filmmakers as a partner at this year’s Tropfest Australia,” said Stuart Hannagan, Vice President of Editorial Imagery, APAC, at Getty Images.

For the first time, Tropfest Australia entrants can draw from Getty Images’ broad array of award-winning content, which includes over 170 million assets including over two million videos and 350,000 music tracks. In addition, Getty Images will also be the Official Photographers of Tropfest Australia, capturing all the excitement of the festival night.

“It is a rewarding experience to see some of the world’s most talented young creatives use Getty Images’ content to produce such fresh and innovative work and we are really looking forward to seeing what this year’s entrants will produce,” added Hannagan.

Tropfest Managing Director, Michael Laverty, said he was thrilled to be working with Getty Images this year.

“We are incredibly privileged to see some of the best short filmmaking from around the world come through our competition. Our relationship with Getty Images will provide these talented filmmakers with another incentive to create,” Laverty said. “We can’t wait to see how entrants will use Getty Images vast library of content in their films – and we have no doubt we’ll be seeing a lot of creativity at work.”

Getty Images will also be contributing to the prize pack with iStock by Getty Images subscriptions, a new service bringing greater simplicity and value to high volume content users, through a licensing model which offers widespread use of photos and illustrations available on iStock.
