Lumo Energy has come up with a new use for basketball as it launches its new Lumo Energy SA ‘Brighter SA’ campaign!

Using a 360° camera to create a ‘Tiny Planet’ effect, the ad features a number of South Australians, including celebrity Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello, walking through popular Adelaide locations representing Lumo’s support of local SA communities, small businesses, and the arts.

The video has each person carrying an illuminated Lumo Energy SA logo, passing it on to the next in a neat floating logo transition.

In reality, they were all holding a basketball with a monopod jammed inside with a 6K, 360° camera on the end. It was a shoot that got a lot of interested but confused looks from passers-by, especially when they saw their favourite ‘South Aussie with Cosi’ doing it.

“They’re going to think I’ve lost my mind,”said Cosi on the day, putting his full trust in the production crew and Helsinki lead creative, Dave Gregory, that they knew what they were doing.

To match his unique ‘little world’ visual idea, Dave took the classic 1940’s song ‘Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive’ and adapted it to become the client’s very own version – ‘Il-LUMO-nate the Positive’.

The track works in harmony with the unique views of Adelaide – creating a positive, fun and engaging new brand ad that launched across SA in the first week of April along with accompanying radio and OOH.

Lumo Energy SA marketing manager, Anna Barshon said, “We are so pleased with the result. The level of creativity and joy Helsinki Agency have brought to this campaign, from the feel good music track to the bright, fun imagery, perfectly captures where we’re taking the brand in SA.”
