Deepend Partners With SEN 1116 Sports Radio On Dual-Platform Project

Melbourne’s Home of Sport, 1116 SEN, is excited to announce the launch of a brand new app, SEN1116, and a new and improved website created by Deepend.

The app, which allows listeners and fans to enjoy their favourite 1116 SEN show and sports commentary on the go in high quality streaming, is available for both iPhone and Android users.

The refreshed web and app environments will deliver fast and easy access to premium sports content including live radio, up-to-the-minute video and podcast streaming, provide personalised feeds according to user team and club preferences and will allow 1116 SEN to keep building on their strong social following.

General manager at 1116 SEN, Cathy Thomas, is excited by the station’s digital developments and looks forward to providing a better service for listening outside of the car.

“Our research shows that almost half of our audience is accessing the site directly from their social media feeds, so 1116 SEN’s digital platforms need to reflect that with content that can be easily digested on the go. From just 6.7 million page views in 2013, to 26.4 million page views in 2015, we are looking to grow our listener base even more by improving mobile access and offering more tailored content,” said Thomas.

“The high quality streaming provided will prove to be a great asset to those who need to stay in constant contact with the latest breaking news and sports commentary that 1116 SEN is famous for.”

Deepend is the team behind the dual-platform overhaul which has vastly improved the digital experience for the station’s fast-growing digital audience – just in time for 1116 SEN’s most comprehensive coverage ever of summer sport.

Managing director of Deepend, Kath Blackham, is thrilled with the finished product.

“We’ve used our extensive user statistics to create the best possible experience for 1116 SEN listeners,” said Blackham.

“The new platform is configured to handle spikes in traffic around breaking sports news and is fully integrated with Apple News and Facebook Instant Articles to increase traffic from social media sites.”
