QUT Creative Enterprise Australia (CEA) has announced its investment in creative talent marketplace theright.fit, founded by award-winning tech entrepreneur Taryn Williams.

Williams (pictured above) heads up theright.fit as founder and CEO, and won the Tech category at B&T’s Women in Media Awards last year. She is also the founder and CEO of commercial modelling agency WINK Models.

“We were looking for strategic investors who added value outside of just a capital injection,” Williams said.

“CEA has a wealth of experience in the creative industries and a deep understanding of fashion, entertainment, photography, film and interactive content, so it was a perfect alignment for us.”

Launched in 2016, theright.fit is used by major advertising agencies and brands such as Veuve Cliquot, Toyota, Menulog, LG, and AAMI Insurance.

Playing into the gig economy trend, the site allows its users to post a job scouting for creatives like photographers, models or make-up artists with the budget posted alongside.

There are currently over 6,500 talent listings on theright.fit, including My Kitchen Rules contestants, Home and Away actors and Miss Universe entrants.

The start-up is also looking at expanding globally and plans to launch an office in Singapore to service Asia-Pacific clients later this year.

“We’re excited to have such fantastic strategic partners to help us execute our goals and continue to build theright.fit to be the hub for creative content creators and the clients that require them, globally,” Williams said.

CEA investment fund manager Shelli Trung said: “I first met Taryn when she was one of the speakers at our Creative3 Conference in September 2017.

“I was immediately impressed by her industry expertise and the success she has achieved with her commercial modelling agency.

“The modelling agency business globally is worth billions and, yet, the process for brands to source talent can take days, if not weeks, with a lot of back and forth to confirm availabilities, contracts and other administration. That’s where theright.fit differs.”
