Summer has finally arrived, and what better way to cool down than with an ice cream! To celebrate, Streets Ice Cream has a very special surprise for ice cream lovers – a limited release of Aussie-themed, Green & Golden Gaytime and Paddle Pop Aussie Rainbow.

The same great flavours but green and gold in colour, these must-try frozen delights are an Aussie twist on the iconic rainbow Paddle Pop and Golden Gaytime to mark the anniversary of Streets being around for 80 Australian summers.

Streets Ice Cream has been producing some of Australia’s most loved brands, such as Paddle Pop and Blue Ribbon ice cream, since the early 1920s when Edwin (‘Ted’) Street began making and selling ice cream from his shop in Corrimal, NSW. Demand for Ted’s ice creams grew over the years, and he built a factory in 1923 in order to keep up with demand.

Streets marketing director, Anthony Toovey said the Aussie themed ice creams were designed to remind people that Streets Ice Creams are synonymous with Aussie summer time and having fun.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our 80th summer than with ice creams that say, we are proudly Australian – green and gold through and through” said Mr Toovey.

Today, millions of Streets Paddle Pops are sold and eaten worldwide each year and more than 100 flavours of Streets Paddle Pop have been sold since the 1950’s.

Since the launch in 1959, there have been over 20 different flavours of Gaytime over the years. The popular Golden Gaytime was launched in the summer of 1970 and other flavours have included Strawberry Shortcake, Caramel Nut, King Chocolate, Raspberry Rough, Choc Orange, Cassata Roma, Devil’s Food (chocolate) and Turkish Delight.
